Rangers player ratings v Partick: Rock has horror show, new signing looks the real deal

Jason Holt – 6

Holt replaced goalscorer Carlos Pena after 70 minutes.

Worked hard and put Thistle’s midfielders under pressure.

Been on the fringes of Caixinha’s squad this season but done well when he came on as he tries to find his way back into the starting XI.

Offers something a little different to Rangers other midfielders and could be an option for Caixinha when his side are trying to close games out.

Ross McCrorie – 7

Came on for Bruno Alves after 75 minutes.

Youngster has been a stand-out for Graeme Murty’s Under-20s and carried that through into his first-team debut.

Done better against Sammon than Alves or Cardoso managed and must surely have put himself firmly int the manager’s thought for upcoming games.

At only 19, McCrorie has a big future ahead of him and will have won plenty of admirers after his display against very experienced forwards.

Lee Hodson – 6

Northern Irish international replaced Declan John with 10 minutes left of normal time.

Done well enough at left-back without ever really excelling.

Looked to get forward in support of Rangers attack before picking up a needless yellow card.

Hopefully, John can recover from his knock ahead of the visit of Celtic on Saturday afternoon.

Eduardo Herrera – 7

Made history as Rangers’ first ‘additional’ substitute when he replaced Morelos for extra time.

Big striker caused all sorts of problems for Partick’s defence before a brilliantly taken goal to seal the tie.

Surprised many by not starting but more than made up for it when he came off the bench.

Needs to be given more game-time alongside Morelos to see what they can do together,

In other Rangers team news, Chris Sutton has destroyed a midfielder for his display during Friday’s draw against Partick Thistle.
