Premier League to clamp down on Arsenal by ‘addressing corner issue’ this summer
Arsenal may have to reassess how they score from set-pieces next season as the Premier League will look to address issues in the summer.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, as holding and wrestling from set-pieces becomes more common.
It was revealed Arsenal coach Nicolas Jover’s contract with the club includes a bonus for every goal scored from a set-piece.
Arsenal’s Premier League title credentials have been scrutinised due to a reliance on set-pieces, with Mikel Arteta’s having scored 16 goals from corners this season.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Jover should share his goal bonus with the players.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the way set-pieces are done will change from next season.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It’s an interesting take that we all know they’ve been the highest third set pieces in the Premier League this year. They’ve done a great job, and they’re scoring at crucial times of the game as well so he’s doing his job.
“But it comes back again to something I mentioned the other week about the referees not clamping down on the corners and all the wrestling and pushing and everything that’s going on around set pieces and particularly corners.
“That’s something that I think will have to be addressed in the summer. And that will also change how set pieces have to be done as well. It’s an evolving science. It’s a great skill to get set pieces done correctly.
“There’s a lot more to them than people think. It takes a lot of work on the training ground. In some way he deserves a pat on the back, but I think probably his bonus should be shared with those that execute for him.”

Arsenal set for huge financial reward
Stefan Borson has told Football Insider that Arsenal are set to earn club record revenue from their strong on-pitch performances this season.
The Gunners are competing to win all four major trophies on offer, with a Carabao Cup final clash against Manchester City later this month.
Their wage bill will likely increase from next season due to their success, with only Man City and Liverpool currently paying more on player wages.
