Pundit issues ‘100%’ Milner transfer claim after Liverpool source’s offer reveal

Alan Hutton has urged Liverpool to keep hold of James Milner.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that it is a “no-brainer” Milner should remain at Anfield next season.

The 37-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the season after penning a one-year extension last summer.

On 19 March, sources told this site that Jurgen Klopp is pushing the board to offer the versatile midfielder a new deal for next season.

Klopp is a huge admirer of Milner and believes his leadership and presence off the pitch are integral to the club’s dressing room atmosphere.

The former England international has made 32 appearances across all competitions this season and has contributed two assists in those outings.

When asked if Milner is a player the Reds need to hold on to, Hutton told Football Insider:100 per cent.

It is an absolute no-brainer.

He is a guy that looks after himself. He is solely concentrated on his football and you need people like that in and around the camp.

That is what brings the young players on because you can learn from these guys. You want to keep some of that experience.

The new people coming in need to lean on them and learn what it is all about. You can see the relationship he has got with Klopp is a close one so I would definitely keep him.
