Rangers ‘star player’ exit claim after ‘massive’ £25m-plus reveal – pundit
Noel Whelan has suggested Rangers will not have to “sell any of their star players” this summer thanks to their successful Europa League campaign.
The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the finances from competing in Europe will prove “massive” when it comes to squad building and recruitment.
Analysis by Football Insider revealed Rangers are set to rake in £25million-plus from their European exploits, with their semi-final win bringing in another £3.3million.

Finance expert Kieran Maguire told this site (8 May) that he expects Rangers’ income to rise to “£75-80million” in their 2021/22 accounts.
The Gers announced revenues of £48million for the 2020/21 campaign.
Whelan suggested the club’s European run means big-name exits are not necessary this summer.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s massive because financially, there’s no real need to sell any players. They’ve got that windfall already where they might not have to be a selling club in the summer.
“They can keep their team together, they can strengthen as well. After Covid, with no fans coming in, it’ll go a massive way to sustaining the club at a high level.
“It will make them bigger challenges in the summer to go and get signings. Financially, it’s saved them from having to sell any of their star players in the summer. They don’t have to think about that now.
“They can relax and instead of thinking: Oh, we might need to sell one for funds to get players in’, the funds are already there.

“The funds are already there. That might just strengthen their capability to go and win back the Premiership from Celtic.
“First and foremost, they’ll want to win the trophy. They won’t be thinking about the money that’s coming into the club. They will be thinking about bringing that trophy back to Ibrox.
