Incoming Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has sent a powerful message to Liverpool’s players ahead of this weekend’s Champions League final clash with Real Madrid – and Gerrard’s Ibrox squad would do well to take his comments on board ahead of his arrival on June 1st.

The iconic former Liverpool captain has told the Reds’ stars to “go and grasp” the opportunity they have and face the Spanish giants with “belief and confidence” and it is a message that should resonate with the Ibrox squad as they prepare for another crack at dethroning bitter rivals Celtic from the top of the Scottish Premiership after seven successive years.

“My message to the players would be: go and grasp it, go and seize the moment you have worked so hard for. Go and reward yourselves for the journey you have taken this club on,” Gerrard said, as quoted by Liverpool’s official website.

“You’ve got to go in with the belief and confidence; you have come this far. You’ve got to handle the responsibility of being a Liverpool player and you’ve got to go and deliver.”

The 37-year-old’s appointment has really got Gers fans excited and there is a real sense of anticipation ahead of him officially getting started on June 1st.

With the chance to play in front of 50,000 fans every other week and compete for trophies regularly, the opportunity to play for the Ibrox giants is one that players around the planet would love and one that fans often think the players take for granted.

Gerrard’s appointment might be a bit of a leap into the unknown for the Gers thanks to his lack of experience as a coach but one thing that is perfectly clear is that the Light Blues squad won’t have any hiding places when Gerrard takes his place in the dugout.
