Report: Rangers expect key man in training tomorrow after injury scare ahead of Celtic clash
Rangers January signing Russell Martin is expected back in training tomorrow and should be fit to play in the Old Firm clash against Celtic on Sunday, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claims that contrary to a report it made earlier this afternoon, that Martin is expected to be fit after all.
The centre-back has played a key part in the Murty resurgence since he joined the club, playing seven Premiership games, of which Rangers have won six.
The Scottish Sun reported earlier that he was in a race against time and was n injury doubt, but they’re now reporting that Rangers themselves expect him to be fit.
In fact they now go as far as to say that Rangers have “no concerns” over his fitness.
Football Insider verdict:
This is a story that’s flip-flopped in the space of a couple of hours. The Scottish Sun released a report at 4pm saying that Martin was an injury doubt and that Graeme Murty might have to play Bruno Alves at the heart of his defence. Less than two hours later and the report now states that Rangers have no concerns. That’s great news for Rangers and its fans ahead of the big game on Sunday, and the speed of the update suggests this has come from sources at Ibrox.
