
Sources: Man City line up Enzo Fernandez bid after development in last 24 hours
Man City are lining up a bid for goalscoring River Plate midfielder Enzo Fernandez, Football Insider understands.
City have been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old for some time and scouted him as well as incoming signing Julian Alvarez during River Plate’s 2-1 win over Platense on Monday.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that one of Pep Guardiola’s priorities this summer is to sign an elite midfielder to replace exit-bound Fernandinho.

Fernandez figures highly on City’s wanted list after a series of outstanding displays, contributing a remarkable eight goals and five assists in all competitions since mid-March.
In total, the Argentinian midfielder has 10 goals and eight assists to his name since his debut in 2020.
He has three years remaining on his contract with River Plate after putting pen to paper on a new deal in December of last year.
This site revealed last month (14 April) that City have also registered their interest in signing AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.
The France international is attracting interest from across Europe after an impressive season in Ligue 1.
A recruitment source told Football Insider (9 May) that Liverpool have also set their sights on the centre-midfielder who is valued at over £50million by AS Monaco.

Tchouameni has two years remaining on his contract in France.
He has contributed five goals and two assists in 48 appearances across all competitions this season.
