Sources: Rhodes signs for Huddersfield Town after quitting Sheffield Wednesday
Jordan Rhodes has signed for Huddersfield Town from Sheffield Wednesday, Football Insider understands.
He has penned a three-year deal with his former side following Wednesday’s relegation to League One.
Football Insider has been told the deal has been completed and Rhodes will rejoin the club he left in 2012.
Earlier this week (May 19), Football Insider revealed Rhodes had undergone a medical with Huddersfield ahead of the proposed move.
It is understood Ipswich had also offered the striker a three-year deal but the Terriers have won the race for his signature.
Rhodes, 31, previously played for the Yorkshire side between 2009 and 2012, scoring 86 goals in 147 games.
He made 36 appearances for the Owls this season as they were relegated to League One on the final day of the campaign.
Only Josh Windass and Callum Paterson managed to outscore Rhodes’ tally of seven goals for the club.
In the summer of 2012, Rhodes joined Blackburn from Huddersfield for a then club-record fee of £8million.
However, he struggled after leaving Ewood Park for Middlesbrough and has not finished a league campaign on double figures since.
Huddersfield are in desperate need of more attacking options after finishing 20th in the Championship.
Josh Koroma was the only Terriers player to outscore Rhodes last season but he only managed to grab eight goals.
Rhodes leaves Hillsborough with a record of 20 goals and five assists in 112 games.
In other news, Huddersfield Town are in the race to sign a Luton Town star who’s set to reject a new contract.
