Herrera has featured in all but three of Rangers’ Scottish Premiership games this season – but has only earned one start and as a result has just one goal to his name in the competition.
The Daily Mail reported in December that the 29-year-old striker may return to Mexico in January after struggling to settle down in Glasgow.
The nine-times Mexico international is simply not good enough for the Light Blues and Murty is yet to hand him more than 45 minutes’ worth of action in any one game.
As Herrera is a regular player to feature off the bench, he may make his last appearance against Celtic – however it could be for mere seconds.
