Murty's new man the missing link: Three things we learned from Rangers v Ayr United

Goss Rangers’ missing link

Rangers
Over the last five years, Rangers have experimented with all sorts of central midfield shapes and personnel but Sean Goss’ arrival has filled a hole the Ibrox side have been trying to fill for a long time.
Goss is more than happy to drop deep when the Gers’ full-backs surge forward and support the central defenders in case they face a quick counter.
The on-loan QPR midfielder also isn’t shy about having a shot from distance and it was his shot that cannoned off the crossbar to set Alfredo Morelos up for the Gers’ equaliser.
While Goss might not be the answer in that role long-term for Graeme Murty’s side, he should be the template for the type of midfielder the Gers need.
