One man surprise absentee: Three things you might have missed from Rangers v Ayr
Herrera’s surprise return
Eduardo Herrera’s Ibrox career looked to be as good as over when the Gers brought Jason Cummings to the club in January coupled with the return of Kenny Miller from injury.
After not being involved at all against Partick Thistle in midweek, Herrera was a substitute against Ayr as Graeme Murty gave himself a number of attacking option in his squad.
Herrera likely isn’t going to have much of a long-term future at Ibrox but it seems he’s still closer to the team than another Rangers forward – Michael O’Halloran.
The Mexican came off the bench for the 22nd time since joining the Gers in the Summer when he replaced Cummings with fifteen minutes left.
