Tony Xia sends motivational message to Aston Villa players after win against Wigan
By Amir Mir
Tony Xia has urged the Aston Villa players to “keep going” after they beat Wigan 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at the DW Stadium.
Steve Bruce guided his team to another three points as they are now beginning to slowly climb up the Championship table.
The Midlands outfit scored both of their goals in the second half, firstly James Chester heading into an empty net, before substitute Scott Hogan netted his first goal for the club.
It means Villa are in the top half of the table, a big sigh of relief for Bruce and Xia after a bad run of form in January and February.
Nonetheless, after Villa recorded their third win on the road, the club’s chief sent this motivational message to the players.
“Come on, Villa. Keep going,” Xia wrote on his personal Twitter account.
There will be no Championship fixtures next week because players will be on international duty with their respective countries.
For Villa, the likes of James Chester and Neil Taylor will represent Chris Coleman’s Wales, who will be aiming to take their step towards World Cup qualification.
Bruce will be hoping his international stars return from action injury free because the treatment room at Bodymoor Heath is already full.
On Saturday, the likes of Hogan, Henri Lansbury and Jack Grealish returned to action. But, Nathan Baker, Gabby Agbonlahor, Andre Green, Birkir Bjarnason and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy are still on the sidelines.
In other Aston Villa news, Scott Hogan has delivered this three-word verdict after the win against Wigan.
