‘Made of glass’, ‘Real problem’ – Tottenham fans react as latest injury blow rocks club

Tottenham fans were rocked by the news that right-back Kieran Trippier was injured in the 2-0 friendly win over Juventus on Saturday.

Sky Sports reported that the 26-year-old initially carried on playing after a clash with Juventus left-back Alex Sandro early on in the game.

He even delivered a trademark inch-perfect cross for striker Harry Kane to score the first goal.

However, he was substituted four minutes before half-time and replaced by Kyle Walker-Peters.

Tottenham went on to complete an impressive victory and didn’t concede a goal, but Spurs fans were left fearing the worst when Trippier was spotted leaving the stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot.

After the game, manager Mauricio Pochettino said the player would need to be assessed on Monday, but with the opening games in the Premier League less than a week away, Tottenham fans are concerned.

Spurs are still the only team not to have made a new signing in the summer and after losing Kyle Walker to Manchester City, they now face the prospect of how to line up against Newcastle next Sunday.

Kyle Walker-Peters is yet to make a senior appearance for Tottenham and it is unlikely to Pochettino will see him as ready to be first-choice right-back.

Fans are understandably worried about the situation – here is a selection of their reactions on Twitter.

In other Tottenham news, this attacker has been confirmed to have left Spurs.
