Tottenham news: Expert can’t believe Antonio Conte could replace Son after £50m-plus reveal

Alex McLeish has suggested Richarlison would struggle for regular game time if he quit Everton to join Tottenham this summer.

The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old would not usurp Harry Kane or Heung-min Son in the pecking order in north London.

As reported by the Telegraph (12 June), Tottenham have expressed their interest in signing the Brazilian this summer, with Everton demanding well in excess of £50million.

The versatile striker has two years left on his contract at Goodison Park, meaning the Toffees are in a strong position to negotiate a deal.

As revealed by Football Insider back on 19 April, Everton are open to offers for Richarlison in a bid to raise some much-needed capital.

McLeish insisted the former Watford man is an “out-and-out striker”, despite having played out wide for the Toffees in recent years.

As such, he suggested the Toffees star would struggle to break into the Spurs starting XI were he to join the north Londoners.

McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Richarlison, I think he’s an out-and-out striker.

“I don’t really see him being a wide player, I feel he’s more effective through the middle.

“I think he could definitely get into a Tottenham side, obviously not with Harry there. When you consider Son and Harry, you wonder how he’s actually going to get a game.

“However, he is a very clever striker.”

Football Insider revealed in April that the Brazil international has told his representatives he is keen to quit Everton this summer.
