Ndombele’s attitude is all wrong after source reveals Tottenham deadline-day drama – pundit

Tanguy Ndombele could be a distracting presence in the Tottenham dressing room after he failed to push through a move on deadline day.

So says ex-Premier League hitman Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the wantaway 24-year-old midfielder.

This site revealed on 16 August that the Frenchman had told the Spurs hierarchy that he wanted to quit before the end of the summer window.

A Tottenham source updated to Football Insider that Ndombele pushed hard for a move on 31 August day but to no avail.

He has four years remaining on his deal at Spurs but is yet to feature since Nuno Espirito Santo took the reins over the summer.

And Whelan claims that the former Lyon man could be a negative influence in the dressing room while his future remains unresolved.

“It depends whether Nuno wants to bring him back into the fold,” he told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.

“It’s never a good sign when a player says he wants to leave, is it? Will he ever be happy?

“You don’t want to keep a player at the football club who isn’t happy if he isn’t going to play for the badge and the shirt.

“It’s a really difficult situation to be in as a manager, for the owners, and for the players.

“If his attitude isn’t right then he can be distracting the other players that are willing to fight for the club.

“What do you do? You have a top player there who could be a massive help throughout the season, but if his heart’s not in it, he isn’t the player you need.
