Tottenham tipped to sell Sanchez for £35m including add-ons after big development – pundit
Kevin Phillips insists Tottenham won’t be able to recoup what they paid for Davinson Sanchez as they look to replace him summer.
The former Sunderland star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims Spurs will still be looking for upwards of £30million for Sanchez when the transfer window opens.
Spurs paid £42million for Sanchez in the summer of 2017 but he has only started half of Tottenham’s Premier League games this season.
Phillips insists Tottenham will need to recoup as much money as they can from Sanchez as the club needs new defenders if they are to compete next season.
“I would say they could get to £35million if you include add-ons,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“Did they pay over the odds for him? I suppose when that time came around it might’ve been the right kind of money when you see some of the fees paid for other players.
“I don’t expect them to get the same back, they’ll probably be looking at about £30 or £35million come the summer.
“Tottenham will want as much as they can because it is vital they get two new centre backs if they really want to challenge next season.”
Sanchez, 24, played the full 120 minutes on Thursday as Spurs were beaten 3-0 and dumped out of the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb.
This result was another recent blow for Sanchez after he gave away a penalty in last weekend’s 2-1 loss to close rivals Arsenal.
In other Tottenham news, this pundit claims another Premier League club will battle Spurs for the signature of a new goalkeeper.
