Tottenham and Kane will be thrilled by reported Son injury return date – pundit
Harry Kane will be delighted amid the latest Tottenham injury update regarding Heung-Min Son.
That is according to ex-Premier League star Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Football.London revealed the 28-year-old’s injury may not be as severe as initially feared.
The South Korean hobbled off after 19 minutes of Sunday’s North London derby with what appeared to be a hamstring problem.
But the report claims that Son could be back in action for the first match after the upcoming international break.
There is even some suggestion that the forward – who has 18 goals and 16 assists in 41 matches this season – could be available for Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa.
Whelan praised the “telepathic” relationship Kane and Son enjoy, claiming it is indispensable to Tottenham as an attacking force.
“He’s a huge loss because he’s integral to the way they play,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“The energy and that link-up play and relationship that he has with Harry Kane, I don’t think there’s any other player in that team that has that.
“No one has that telepathic way of thinking that they have together because they’ve been together for such a long time now.
“When he’s out, it’s a big loss to Tottenham but also to Harry Kane not having him next to him.”
The pair have assisted each other 14 times throughout the current campaign, a Premier League record.
In terms of goal contributions for Spurs, Son is second only to Kane who has netted 26 times and assisted 16 goals in 38 games in 2020-21.
In other news, a former Spurs favourite has given his verdict on whether Tottenham should send Oliver Skipp out on loan next season.
