Tottenham told to agree 6-month Skipp loan after Mourinho stance revealed - Robinson
Paul Robinson has claimed Oliver Skipp should return to Norwich City on loan next season unless he is going to be a regular starter at Tottenham.
The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said a full season of Premier League football would be “amazing” for the 20-year-old’s progression.
Skipp has excelled since moving to Carrow Road on a season-long loan deal last summer.
He has been ever-present in the league for a Daniel Farke side that sit top of the Championship and seven points clear of second-placed Watford with a game in hand.
Football Insider understands Jose Mourinho wants to keep the centre-midfielder next season, rather than loan him back out to Norwich City or a Premier League club.
Robinson suggested a six-month loan deal be considered by the club.
“It really depends on what kind of role Mourinho has planned out for him,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“He has been outstanding at Norwich this season and they look like they are going to win the Championship at a canter.
“If Mourinho wants him to be a regular starter next season, then there is no choice between Tottenham and Norwich. But, if he is going to come back and just be a bit-part player I think he would be better off going back to Norwich.
“A season-long loan spell in the Premier League would be invaluable for his development. Norwich are not going to come to the Premier League and cause Spurs any problems next season so they do not have to worry about it in that regard.
“If there is an opportunity for him to stay at Norwich and get a year of Premier League football under his belt it would be amazing.
“The club could even look at loaning him back to Norwich for half of next season.”
