Tottenham will be thrilled as source reveals new Joe Rodon details – pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed Tottenham will be “very happy” as they prepare to offload fringe star Joe Rodon for a potential profit.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 24-year-old would have been even further down the pecking order after Clement Lenglet’s summer arrival.
Football Insider revealed on 30 July that Rodon was undergoing a medical at Rennes ahead of a season-long loan move to the Ligue 1 outfit.

It is understood that the Brittany club, who will play Europa League football this term, will have the option to make the switch permanent for a fee of £18million.
Japhet Tanganga is also set to complete a temporary exit – joining reigning Serie A champions AC Milan.
Rodon failed to start a single league game last term and managed just 10 Tottenham appearances across all competitions.
Whelan claimed the former Swansea man, who cost Spurs a reported initial fee of £11million, will have had one eye on the World Cup when making his decision to leave.
“He had to get out of there,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“Just to get that first-team football under his belt with the World Cup coming up. He wants to be involved, he wants to be fit and sharp.
“This makes perfect sense for both parties because we knew he wasn’t going to be first choice, we knew he was going to be down the pecking order with Lenglet coming in.

“Tottenham will be very happy with the price. They’re getting a potential profit on a player they haven’t used very often.
“And Rodon will be keeping in touch with Wales and getting that meaningful action ahead of the World Cup.”
