Valakari: This reportedly inbound Rangers signing aspires to play in England
By Harvey Byrne
Ex-Motherwell and Derby midfielder Simo Valakari has told that reportedly inbound Rangers signing Alfredo Morelos aspires to play in England and that he can see him in the Premier League in the future.
The Colombian striker has previously been pictured in Scotland, while he has even updated his personal Instagram account to state that he is a Rangers player before an announcement has been made.
The 20-year-old has lit up Finland for table toppers HJK Helsinki after moving across from home country side Independiente Medellin in the winter of 2016
Now, Valakai, who was born in Helsinki and will have contacts at the club has told that he believes Rangers will be able to help Morelos fulfil his dream of playing in the English top-flight.
“Alfredo can become the player he wants,” told Valakari to the Scottish Sun.
“He has aspirations to play in England and, of course, for his country. I’ve no doubts he can realise this dream.
“He will need good coaching and a good environment.
“Because of the way they are trying to build something special, Rangers will provide him with both.
“This move will help him and, if he stays fit, then I see him playing for his country and one day in the Premier League.”
In it’s current season, which runs from May to October Morelos has managed a stunning 20 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions in Finland.
However, he was left out of the squad for HJK’s most recent match against JJK, also indicating that a move to the Glasgow giants could be close.
Meanwhile, Rangers let go of forward Joe Garner to Ipswich on Friday evening after just one season at the club.
In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton believes this Gers summer signing has great pedigree.
