West Ham fans react to Reece Oxford display v Shrewsbury
West Ham fans were intrigued to see Reece Oxford start for their side in the FA Cup third round replay, after his loan to Borussia Monchengladbach was cut short.
Oxford joined the German side on a season-long loan in the summer but after making just three Bundesliga appearances, the Hammers invoked a clause to bring him back to east London.
West Ham reportedly turned down offers from both his loan club and RB Leipzig to sign Oxford on a permanent basis, and now the 19-year-old will look to force his way back into the first-team reckoning under Moyes.
He got his first chance in a West Ham shirt in the third round replay at home to Shrewsbury but it was an underwhelming first encounter and Hammers fans are convinced he wasn’t ready to play.
He made several key blunders and was eventually subbed off in the 69th minute for Mark Noble.
The game finished 0-0 but West Ham nicked it 1-0 in extra time with a goal from Reece Burke.
