After Miami antics West Ham must rip-up contract of reported £90k-a-week waste of space
COMMENT
What is it that Andy Carroll actually does?
It’d be interesting to know exactly what the Hammers hitman actually offers the club these days apart from taking up space on the treatment table – it’s a serious question.
Even in the perennially injured forward’s absence, he has managed to infuriate the West Ham faithful by “lauding” it up on the beaches of Miami, looking all the world as though he’s having the time of his life.
Surely it’s time to bin off this waste of space who’s getting £90k-a-week for not very much at all?
You can often sympathise with players whose talent is hampered by their body’s inability to stand up to the physicalities of the professional game because of their good attitude and desire to be fit.
None of this do you ever get from the pony-tailed Geordie.
Now 29, Carroll has slightly over one year remaining on his current deal at the London Stadium and if the West Ham board have an ounce of sense they will tear it up and show him the exit door in the summer.
The former Liverpool forward will go down as one of the greatest wastes of talents in the world of football.
Given the way he blasted onto the scenes with Newcastle as a youngster, his move to Liverpool was considered a step up and a chance for him to become an elite star – but it never happened and it now never will.
In other West Ham news, Sullivan and Gold can save Hammers future by snapping up top-flight title winner in the summer.
