Whelan makes bold deadline day prediction after £14m Rangers news

Rangers will not part with their key men before tonight’s transfer deadline, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Aberdeen hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to claims about the gers’ finances.

As reported by the Athletic, Rangers forecast they need to plug a £14million financial hole for the upcoming season.

Rangers

The report stated the Gers are now considering player sales to become a self-sustainable model.

On 26th June, Football Insider revealed Rangers have told Porto that they want £13million for their star striker this summer.

This site also revealed in May that Arsenal have an interest in re-signing Kamara.

However, on deadline day, Rangers still have all their key players with their Champions League exit seemingly not speeding up any sales.

Whelan insists Rangers won’t be parting with any of their key players before tonight’s cut-off.

“Most clubs have made a loss this year,” Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.

“Especially during these COVID times, we’ve seen a few clubs take hits.

“I’m sure £14million for a club like Rangers isn’t much.

“If it was going to be a significant issue they would have sold one of those players.

“They haven’t done that. I don’t think it’s worrying them that much and I don’t expect any big players to leave on deadline day.”

Rangers

Rangers have been active in the transfer market, signing Juninho Bacuna, John Lundstram and Fashion Sakala.

As it stands, there has been no high-profile exits from Ibrox this summer.
