BBC Sport: Mid-table international expected to have Rangers medical on Tuesday
Norwich defender Russell Martin is expected to undergo a medical in order to sign for Rangers on Tuesday, according to a report.
BBC Sport claim on their website that Martin, 32, is expected to arrive in Glasgow in roughly 24 hours to put the finishing touches to a loan move to Ibrox.
The Light Blues are hopeful to conclude a deal for the Scotland international this week.
Sky Sports Scotland reported on their official Twitter account earlier on Monday that a fee has been agreed between Norwich and Rangers for Martin.
The Scotland international has been on the fringes of the Norwich squad this season as Daniel Farke’s men sit mid-table in the English Championship.
Martin, formerly of Wycombe and Peteborough, has made just seven first-team appearances for the Canaries this term, spending a lot of his time with the Under-23s in Premier League 2.
Football Insider verdict
Rangers fans may not like the look of Martin because of his performances for Scotland, but he is clearly an improvement on what Graeme Murty currently has at Ibrox. David Bates, Fabio Cardoso, Bruno Alves and Danny Wilson are not good enough to go where this team is trying to get and an experienced international like Martin, who has also spent a lot of his career in the Premier League, would show the current Ibrox centre-backs a thing or two. His arrival may mean that Alves leaves the club. The Portuguese defender will probably want to assure his spot at the World Cup in the summer but won’t do that if he slips down the pecking order.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are expected to announce this done deal within hours after a medical is scheduled.
