Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire rave over new Juan Mata footage: ‘We just knew it’

Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire showed their love for former Manchester United star Juan Mata on social media.

Mata, 37, is currently playing his football out in Australia, starring for Melbourne Victory and boasting four goals and 10 assists in 20 games, four years after leaving Old Trafford.

The creative playmaker has clearly not lost his touch in the final third, with those back at the Carrington Training Centre watching from afar as he impressed once again against Sydney FC on Saturday, 7 March.

Fernandes is currently Man United’s playmaker, but with rumours swirling around his future, the Red Devils may need to begin putting plans in place to find his successor.

Man United duo hardly surprised by Juan Mata free-kick

During a 2-2 draw this weekend, Mata played a key role when opening the scoring with a delightful free-kick, and his former teammates were never in any doubt about what would happen next.

Watching the free-kick at Carrington Training Centre, Fernandes recorded the goal on his phone, alongside the caption: “We just knew that, from there, he doesn’t miss, right @harrymaguire97?”

After the ball hits the back of the net, Fernandes and Maguire can be heard celebrating, showing their love for the former Old Trafford star, who continues to ply his trade in Australia.

It was an absolutely sublime effort from the former Man United and Chelsea star, but with 51 goals and 40 assists during his time at Old Trafford, very few are surprised.

Could Man United lose Bruno Fernandes this summer?

Very few players have managed to make as big an impression as Mata did at United, but Fernandes is certainly one who has totally exceeded it.

The 31-year-old boasts 105 goals and 101 assists in 318 appearances, writing himself into the club’s history books in style, but there is a massive concern over his future right now.

Football Insider understands that Man United plan new talks with Fernandes, with a new contract potentially on the cards, but Saudi Arabian clubs continue to push for his signature.

Losing the playmaker would be absolutely devastating for Michael Carrick, or any other permanent manager, this summer, but it will certainly happen in one of the next few windows.
