MAN UNITED MATCH CENTRE:
Predicted XIs, Live Stats, Carrick’s Tactics & Top Four Race
Manchester United played out a dull goalless draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. Although the Black Cats have been impressive upon their return to the Premier League, a 0-0 draw in the North-East wasn’t the best of results for Man United, even though they really don’t have much to play for anymore. With Champions League football confirmed and third place all but mathematically secured, the Red Devils can afford to see out the season in cruise control. However, Michael Carrick is still out to impress the Glazers and INEOS as he bids to win the Man United manager’s job on a permanent basis.
Kick-off: Sunday 17 May, 12:30 BST
Referee: TBC
Next up: Nottingham Forest
Man United play host to Nottingham Forest on Sunday in the final game of the season at Old Trafford. Forest’s Premier League safety is not yet confirmed, so Vitor Pereira’s side – who’ll be reeling after losing in the Europa League semi-finals to Aston Villa – will be eager to confirm their top-flight stay for the 2026-27 campaign. Man United can be accused of taking their foot off the gas against Sunderland. However, with Carrick’s future not yet clear, the interim United boss will be sending out his team to do maximum damage against Forest to boost his credentials for a permanent stay in the Old Trafford dugout.
