Diogo Dalot reacts to confirmed Benjamin Sesko announcement at Man United

Benjamin Sesko has won over the Manchester United fanbase following a slow start to life at Old Trafford.

After no goals in his first six appearances, the 22-year-old now has a record of nine goals and one assist in 26 games, becoming a key figure through the middle for Michael Carrick.

He had three goals in as many games before starting against Newcastle United on Wednesday, 4 March, and coincidentally, the Red Devils fell to a rare defeat under the new manager.

Man United’s transfer list is stocked ahead of the summer transfer window, but with Sesko joined by Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha in attack, other areas need to be addressed by the hierarchy.

Benjamin Sesko wins new award at Old Trafford

During the month of February, Sesko hit the back of the net three times, including dramatic winners against Fulham and Crystal Palace, and the buzzer-beating equaliser versus West Ham.

Fans have quickly fallen in love with the Serbian international, who joined on a £73million move from RB Leipzig during the summer, with the striker earning his plaudits at the Theatre of Dreams.

Taking to Instagram (10 March), Man United’s official account wrote, “Presenting the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for February… Benjamin Sesko,” with clapping emojis.

A lot of fans from up and down the Premier League doubted the centre-forward after his slow start, but he is slowly proving his doubters wrong this season.

Michael Carrick is surely a shoo-in for an award

There is plenty of speculation surrounding Carrick’s future as Man United boss, with multiple big names being linked with the permanent job ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

He could certainly be in line to take the job himself, and a piece of silverware will go a long way in convincing the hierarchy that he is the right man for the job.

However, he is up against Keith Andrews, Pep Guardiola and Arne Slot for February Manager of the Month. With three wins and one draw, it would be a surprise not to see him win.

It would end a near-perfect month for the Red Devils, especially with Sesko only growing from strength to strength at Old Trafford.
