Edu to land on his feet as new job already lined up with Nottingham Forest exit now imminent
Nottingham Forest chief Edu has caused plenty of drama at the City Ground in recent months and his departure is now imminent.
The Reds’ Global Head of Football has endured a fractious relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis, which has led to him staying away from the club in their recent games.
It has now been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano that the Brazilian will depart the East Midlands outfit “very soon” after internal discussions at the club, in a decision that is sure to delight fans.
Edu took charge of Forest’s transfer business last summer, and his falling out with Nuno Espirito Santo played a major role in the Portuguese’s dismissal after a strong season last time out.

Nuno enjoyed an excellent relationship with the Forest supporters after leading the team to European qualification in 2024-25, and as a result, Edu has quickly become a hated figure at the City Ground.
The former Arsenal chief has regularly been involved in problems behind the scenes, and the entire fanbase will surely be glad to see that the club have now lost patience with him.
However, they will be less pleased to see that the 47-year-old could be set to land on his feet and immediately walk into a new job.
Flamengo have already identified him as an option to replace their football director Jose Boto, according to ESPN in Brazil.
Boto is under pressure internally due to a perceived lack of communication with the senior figures of the club, and the board have already earmarked Edu as their ideal replacement.

His work at Forest has seen him face plenty of scrutiny in recent months, and yet despite all his errors, he looks set to not be out of work for long.
Evangelos Marinakis fuming with Nottingham Forest transfer business
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Marinakis is fuming with Forest’s transfer business this season, as the team have gone backwards rather than forwards.
The Greek is one of the Premier League’s most ambitious owners, and after Europa League qualification last term, he would have had his heart set on securing a Champions League berth this time around.
He backed Edu and the team heavily in the transfer market last summer, and is now seething with the results of his investment.
The Reds are in serious danger of potentially being relegated back into the Championship, and Edu is clearly being viewed as one of the major culprits for that.
