Everton get green light for Ben White move as Arsenal ready to accept offer

Everton are set to get another huge chance to secure the signing of Arsenal defender Ben White this summer.

The Toffees were keen to try and launch a move for the right-back during the recent January window, but quickly saw their attempts thwarted, with Mikel Arteta unwilling to sanction a sale in the middle of the season.

The 28-year-old is currently out of action with an injury, but has played just five Premier League games for the Gunners all season, with his last league start coming back in January.

Everton’s transfer plans will already be in place for the upcoming summer window, but they may be about to change once again after the latest update from the Emirates Stadium.

Everton to re-ignite Ben White chase as Arsenal finally ready to sell

Arsenal have now got Newcastle right-back Tino Livramento on their radar, as they are eyeing up a move that could see them beat Manchester City to the youngster’s signature ahead of next season.

With Jurrien Timber currently Arteta’s first-choice on the right of the backline, that looks set to have a telling impact on White’s future in North London.

The former Brighton man still has two years remaining on his contract with Arsenal, but he is seen as a “strong candidate” to be sold this summer, providing a suitable offer is received, according to The Telegraph.

The capital club are understood to require at least one major sale this summer, with White emerging as an increasingly likely candidate, and that will be music to the ears of David Moyes.

Everton have struggled with a lack of depth in their full-back positions since the start of the season, and it is surely a no-brainer for them to now re-ignite their pursuit of White, after Arsenal have effectively given the green light to a sale.

Arsenal’s reluctance to sell him blocked their advances in the winter, but it could be a totally different story this time around, as they appear prepared to accept offers for him.

White deal to help Toffees progress to Europe

Former Toffees chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that Everton need another summer of squad building, with European qualification potentially coming too early for them this season.

The Merseysiders have progressed dramatically under Moyes this term, to the point where they are now just five points behind Chelsea in fifth place.

Making a move for a player of White’s calibre this summer would undoubtedly help them progress their squad to the next stage, given the amount of top-level experience that he boasts.

The defender has featured in the Champions League on over 25 occasions since he moved to the Emirates in 2021, while he has also turned out for the Gunners in the Europa League and been part of several title challenges.

That exposure to European football would make him an invaluable addition to a club like Everton, who have ambitions to reach that point themselves in the coming years.
