Charlie Adam raves about Celtic senior duo in win v Zenit

Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam has raved about Callum McGregor and James Forrest for their first-half performances in the 1-0 win against Zenit St Petersburg on Thursday night.
McGregor, 24, was recalled into the starting line-up by Brendan Rodgers ahead of kick-off to replace January signing Charly Musonda – much to the surprise of Celtic fans on social media.
However the Scotland international was in fine form during the opening 45 minutes, being involved in practically all of the Hoops’ attacking play as they got the upper-hand over Roberto Mancini’s Zenit.
McGregor went on to score what turned out to be the winner with a brilliant goal in the second period.
Forrest, 26, has arguably been the Bhoys’ player of the season so far and against the Russian giants, the winger showed no signs of being over-awed by the occasion with a fantastic performance out wide.
Stoke veteran Adam, 32, was full of praise for the senior duo and took to his personal Twitter account at half-time to make his opinion heard.
“Some great football from Celtic v Zenit. McGregor and Forrest best players on the pitch,” he said.

Adam left Rangers in 2009 before going on to have spells down south with Blackpool, Liverpool and Stoke.
Last may, the midfielder admitted that he could make a move back to Scotland before the end of his career, and it seems that he is still keeping a close eye on at least one of the Old Firm clubs after Celtic’s 1-0 win against Zenit.
