This is what Hogan said about Aston Villa at start of the season
By Amir Mir
Aston Villa bound Scott Hogan stated at the start of the season that the Midlands outfit are “not a big club” as he refused to be wowed by the prospect of playing against the former Premier League outfit.
Sky Sports News journalist Kaveh Solhekol has revealed on Twitter that Villa have made the biggest transfer statement of the January window yet by winning the race for the 24-year-old forward.
Solhekol reports that Villa will pay £15million for Hogan and that the player is headed to Villa Park for a deadline-day medical.
Hogan has scored 14 goals this season for the Bees and was set to come up against Steve Bruce’s side on Tuesday night at Griffin Park in a Championship encounter.
But now, the former non-league player is set to make a move to Villa Park where he will be looking to help the club return to the top flight.
However, prior to the start of the campaign, this is what Hogan had to say about the prospect of coming up against recently relegated duo Newcastle and Villa.
“No club is big to me,” Hogan told getwestlondon in August. “One club is big to me and that is Man United. The rest are not big at all. I don’t care about any other club.
“They’re normal teams. Unless we play Man United away it’s a different matter. Otherwise, they’re normal teams.”
Hogan has already featured against Villa this term when Dean Smith’s side secured a 1-1 draw in the Midlands when Roberto Di Matteo was in charge.
He did find the back of the net against Rafa Benitez’ side earlier on in the campaign when his team were beaten 3-1 at St James’ Park in October.
