Jack Hinshelwood to Nottingham Forest takes new twist after Brighton announcement
Nottingham Forest have long been linked with a move for Brighton and Hove Albion’s versatile star Jack Hinshelwood.
Football Insider revealed in December that the Seagulls would reject any move from Forest for the 20-year-old’s signature during the winter window, and so no move came to fruition.
Also capable of playing at full-back, Hinshelwood has starred in the centre of midfield for Fabian Hurzeler, even notching an assist during Brighton’s 2-1 win over the Reds at the weekend.
Forest must have transfer plans in place, especially if the club are relegated from the Premier League this season, but a spanner has been thrown into the works ahead of the summer.

Whether or not Forest are relegated this season, there are several stars who could jump ship, leaving Evangelos Marinakis to pick up the pieces during the transfer window.
Morgan Gibbs-White could be first out the door, with Elliot Anderson likely to follow suit, with every big-name Premier League side lining up for his signature ahead of the summer.
The back-ups for Neco Williams and Ola Aina have not impressed either, and Pereira and his staff will already be aware of Hinshelwood’s ability to deputise at full-back.
Hinshelwood has the potential to grow into a very talented midfielder in the Premier League, but that is now unlikely to happen at the City Ground after an update on his future at the Amex Stadium.
Brighton star decides his future amid Nottingham Forest links
Despite all the rumours around his future, Hinshelwood has now put pen to paper on a new deal with the Seagulls, extending his deal until 2029.
His previous deal was set to expire in the summer of 2028. But with yet another contract extension signed at the Amex Stadium, the player has made it pretty clear where he wants to be for the foreseeable future.
Brighton have had to deal without Hinshelwood due to injuries in recent seasons, but that shouldn’t scare clubs away from targeting his signature.
This new deal is not to say that Forest won’t go in for his signature again, but it could certainly add to the Seagulls’ price tag once the summer transfer window rolls around.
