Jeremie Frimpong could be finished at Liverpool already as deal eyed for summer release clause
Liverpool may already be about to put the writing on the wall for Jeremie Frimpong after his move from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.
The right-back was the Reds’ first addition of an expensive summer last time around, as the Merseysiders splashed out a fee of £29.5million to bring him in last May.
Frimpong was handed a bumper five-year deal with the view to him becoming the long-term replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold at Anfield, but it hasn’t really played out like that for him so far.
The Dutchman has been limited to just six starts all season in the Premier League, and Arne Slot and Co. already appear to be making plans to replace the 25-year-old at the next possible opportunity.

VISIT THE TRANSFER HUB£21.9m Denzel Dumfries move to force Jeremie Frimpong out
Injuries have prevented Frimpong from truly settling into a rhythm in his quest for regular football during the early stages of his return to English football.
Slot has had issues with the right-back position all season, as regular fitness issues for him and Conor Bradley have left the boss continuously searching for makeshift solutions on the right of the backline.
When he has played, Frimpong has struggled to make an impact, as he has just a solitary assist to show for his efforts in league action this term.
Liverpool are continuing to line up a move for Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries, who has a £21.9m release clause that can be triggered in July, according to Tutto Mercato.
The Italian giants are understood not to feel “protected” by that clause, and it certainly leaves the door open for the Reds to make a move.
However, there is little need for them to have three top-level right-backs on their books, and as a result, a move for Dumfries could easily spell the end for his international teammate Frimpong in the process.

He has largely underwhelmed since his arrival, and Liverpool would surely have to pay serious consideration towards trying to recoup some of their £30m outlay if he fell down the pecking order.
Why would Liverpool sell Frimpong and not Conor Bradley?
If Liverpool were to step up their pursuit of Dumfries and truly chase a deal this summer, it would surely spell the end for one of their current right-backs, considering that Slot can also use the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones in that role.
However, Frimpong is surely the more likely candidate to be moved out the door than Bradley, despite the fact that he only arrived at the club last summer.
Bradley would not hold the same level of market value as his counterpart, which could be crucial to help recoup some funds if the Reds plan to spend big once again.
Throw in the fact that the Northern Ireland international also counts as a homegrown player when it comes to the Premier League’s squad registration rules, and he is likely worth more to the Reds than any transfer fee that they could potentially secure.
