Keith Wyness tears into Sir Jim Ratcliffe in ‘scathing’ new attack after ‘poor’ Man United staff mistreated
Manchester United may not have saved any money from staff cuts due to managerial changes and weakened commercial relationships.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, after Man United posted an operating profit of £32.6million.
Staff redundancies at the club have contributed towards the profit, with Man United having made a £3.9m loss last year.
Champions League football still looks imperative to aid Man United’s financial situation, with the club having also recorded debt of £1.3billion.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks Man United’s “cost-cutting exercises” have not made much difference to their finances.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes the club’s finances are still not in a good position.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’ve been scathing over Ratcliffe, as you know, for the last few months. And again, I’m afraid I’m going to have to call him out again.
“They try to take credit for the money coming in, saying that finally their cost-cutting exercises are showing fruit. And all those poor staff that were let go, suddenly that cost base is translating into better numbers and better cost control.
“Then I look at the amount of money they’ve spent on sacking managers that they made huge mistakes on and Dan Ashworth and you start thinking, really the money that you’ve saved on the staff at a lower level, I’m afraid that you’ve lost on managers.
“And also, there’s been a lot of talk about the cost-cutting on the sponsorship and revenue side as well. That’s affected some of these key sponsors that they haven’t got right now. So I don’t think it’s a great story. I think there are a lot of holes in them trying to take some credit for it.”

Man United make Mason Mount transfer decision
Sources have told Football Insider that Man United have no intentions of selling Mason Mount in the summer transfer window.
Mount has been linked with a move to either Aston Villa or Fulham, and the 27-year-old has been plagued with injuries during his time at Old Trafford.
Man United are focused on Mount returning to fitness to aid their push for Champions League football, with the midfielder having not made a first team appearance since mid-January.
