Leeds fans erupt as Daniel Farke hit with ‘hilarious’ FA punishment: ‘You couldn’t make this up’
Leeds United fans are in uproar after the announcement that manager Daniel Farke is suspended for Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Norwich City.
The German is set to miss this weekend’s cup tie against his former club as part of a double-edged punishment for confronting referee Peter Bankes after the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City last time out.
The 49-year-old stormed onto the Elland Road pitch after the full-time whistle, and was quickly shown a red card by the man in the middle, as he vented his frustration over some of his decisions.
Leeds’ defeat to Man City left Farke incensed, and supporters have also been left feeling aggrieved after his sanction from the FA was announced on Friday.

The FA released a statement regarding their punishment for Farke on Friday, as they confirmed that he had breached Law 12 of the Laws of the Game by entering the field of play to confront the referee.
That charge typically comes with a one-game suspension attached, which the Whites’ boss has accepted, as well as the additional sanction of an £8,000 fine.
Farke has already admitted his guilt over the incident and will serve part of his punishment in this weekend’s FA Cup clash as a result.
The German can at least take solace from the fact that he is not set to miss any Premier League games due to his misdemeanour, but that has done little to quell the fans’ frustration at the way the incident has been viewed.
Supporters have taken to X to make their feelings known, with one fan labelling the punishments as “hilarious,” given that Farke was punished for something that “Pep Guardiola does every game.”
Another fan suggested that “you couldn’t make this up” after Farke’s ban was confirmed, while it was also suggested that the PGMOL is the “most corrupt organisation in the UK.”
- @DanielJ46083413: “I expect to see the same sanctions for Pep, Arteta etc when they do it again then.”
- @Oliberg1608: “But we didn’t get a pen? Games gone, getting a red for wanting to talk about the decisions?”
- @freddies05: “Leeds vs the Premier League.”
Farke set for major opportunity when he returns
Leeds are still facing relegation concerns after the latest round of midweek fixtures, and they are set to face a significant opportunity to save themselves when Farke returns to the dugout.

The West Yorkshire outfit have meetings against struggling Crystal Palace and bottom club Wolves within their next five games, which provide a huge chance to put daylight between themselves and the bottom three.
Secure victory in both of those games, and the nervous run-in that culminates with a potentially seismic ‘six-pointer’ against West Ham on the final day suddenly looks a lot less daunting.
A run of four games without a win in the league of late has sparked fears once again at Elland Road, but Farke’s men are still surely just a few results away from safety.
