Marcus Rashford to Barcelona deal is ‘pretty much agreed’ – update today

Marcus Rashford will not be returning to Manchester United no matter who their next permanent manager is.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who states a deal for Rashford to join Barcelona has been “agreed.”

It has been reported that Rashford has agreed a three-year deal at Barcelona, and the Spanish club will purchase the 28-year-old for around £26million.

Manchester United could rebuild their squad in the summer with the aim of offloading the likes of Rashford on permanent deals to free up space in the wage bill.

Man United ‘have got to accept’ Marcus Rashford departure

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states that Barcelona will pay Man United in installments to sign Rashford.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the deal “suits all parties.”

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think it’s pretty much agreed already. I think that’s going to happen as it is.

“I think they’ve got the terms that they’re happy with. I think they know that there’s no way Rashford’s going to come back, even with Carrick or the change in management.

“I just don’t think it’s going to happen. He’s moved on. So they’ve got to accept it. And I don’t think it’ll affect them badly in terms of taking the money in instalments.

“It suits all parties. They’ve probably got slightly more on the instalments than they would have done if they wanted the payments up front. And I think as long as they’ve got it on the books, it’s coming in, then it’ll be fine for both parties.”

Man United make Gareth Southgate verdict

Sources have told Football Insider that Man United may hire Gareth Southgate to become part of their backroom staff.

The Red Devils have no plans to make the former England boss their next permanent manager, but they believe his skills could be valuable in a behind-the-scenes role.

Southgate previously worked with Man United assistant manager Steve Holland in the England set-up, and he is currently out of work and has recently hinted at returning to football.
