Exclusive: Danny Mills claims PL clubs ‘Queuing up’ to sign Leeds player I’d love to stay
Danny Mills has claimed Premier League clubs are queuing up to sign Leeds United loanee Ben White at the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-United and England defender hailed as “defensively the best player in the Championship” following his outstanding first half of the campaign.
Football Insider revealed in October that Liverpool are keeping close tabs on White and they have earmarked him as a potential superstar.
The 22-year-old, who is on a season-long loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, is also attracting interest from other leading Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.
“Ben White is defensively the best player in the Championship at the moment,” Mills told Football Insider. “He’s been absolutely outstanding.
“I’d love him to stay at Leeds for the foreseeable future, whether Leeds can afford him…Premier League sides are queuing up for his signature at the end of the season.
“He is a great defender, he’s good on the ball, very composed, so yeah he is without a doubt one of the best defenders in the Championship.”
White has started all 19 of United’s Championship matches this season and been part of a defence that has remarkably conceded only 10 goals, comfortably the best in the four professional English divisions.
He had never played in the Championship or the Premier League before this season, after spending the previous two campaigns on loan at Peterborough United and Newport County respectively.
In other Leeds United news, there are growing whispers from Elland Road that Victor Orta is looking at three potential January signings.
