Odds slashed: Roberto De Zerbi to Tottenham update after Mauricio Pochettino latest

Roberto De Zerbi and Mauricio Pochettino have emerged as the favourites to take over at Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

The former is available after leaving Marseille by mutual consent in February, after just under two years in charge.

Pochettino is the manager of the United States, and is expected to lead his team at this summer’s World Cup before making a decision on his future.

Thomas Frank was sacked at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month, with his interim replacement, Igor Tudor, failing to make any difference.

Any potential search for Tottenham’s next manager is muddied by the impending threat of relegation, which is becoming a more and more realistic proposition by the week.

Roberto De Zerbi odds slashed

There has even been some talk of Tudor being sacked at Tottenham, such is the situation becoming more and more perilous.

The 47-year-old has led his team to defeats in all three of the games he has been in charge for, with the Lilywhites now without a Premier League win since the end of December.

And with an upcoming trip to Liverpool surrounded by a two-leg Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid, it does not look to be getting any easier for Tudor.

Football Insider exclusively revealed last week that Tottenham face a £60million revenue drop if they are relegated.

With the financial ramifications set to be so extreme, decision-makers may well be pushed into making an early decision on Tudor.

De Zerbi’s odds of taking over at Tottenham have been slashed to 10/3 by one major bookmaker in recent days, while Pochettino still leads the race at 11/10.

Tottenham await managerial fate

Tottenham find themselves in a tricky position when it comes to scouting out a new manager.

Naturally, focus will be kept on the likes of De Zerbi, who would undoubtedly jump at the chance to manage a Premier League club of the Lilywhites’ size.

However, their prospective options would surely have to change if the unthinkable threat of relegation is confirmed.

Tottenham find themselves in a position in which they may ultimately have to convince a manager to lead them back up to the Premier League. Their success in that remains to be seen.
