Predicted XIs, Stats, Tactics & Survival Battle Analysis

Next up: Tottenham vs Brighton
Tottenham once again failed to get the desired new manager bounce, as Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge of the Lilywhites ended in a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Sunderland. Consequently, Spurs are two points adrift of safety and sit 18th in the Premier League with only six games left to save themselves.
The situation does not get any easier, with in-form Brighton and Hove Albion – De Zerbi’s former employers – visiting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend. Spurs are winless in 14 consecutive Premier League games, their longest run in the competition and their second longest league streak without a victory all time. There is little time to feel sorry for themselves or lick wounds, but the desperate situation is certainly reaching crisis point ahead of a fixture that looks hugely problematic.
Tottenham relegation battle: Difficult run-in could spell the end
In the 21st Century, it’s been proven that even the biggest clubs in England can suffer relegation to the Championship. West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle have all been dealt that fate, as well as previous Premier League champions Blackburn and Leicester. But none of those relegations would pale in comparison to Spurs going down.
Igor Tudor was clearly out of his depth as he attempted to spark a revival that never happened, and De Zerbi is in charge of a team going through an absolute confidence crisis. There is time still to reverse the situation, but that time really is of the essence and a difficult end to the season will not help matters.
