Tottenham and Crystal Palace to battle for Mauricio Pochettino after unexpected development

Mauricio Pochettino has seen his odds slashed to become the next Crystal Palace manager in a stunning twist.

The current US National Team manager has been heavily linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job for weeks, with Igor Tudor set to depart at the end of the campaign.

However, Spurs now appear to have a rival for his signature, with the bookies believing a Palace appointment is increasingly likely.

One bookmaker now has Pochettino to Crystal Palace at 20/1, with Oddschecker on 6 March confirming that these odds have been slashed, which could damage hopes of him becoming Tottenham’s next manager.

Tottenham could lose out to Crystal Palace for Mauricio Pochettino

While Pochettino may be open to a return to Tottenham, this does not mean it is certain to happen.

Spurs could easily be in the Championship next season, with the club just one point off the relegation zone.

In comparison, the Eagles could be in the Europa League, with Oliver Glasner’s side the heavy favourites to win the Conference League.

As a result, for many managers, Palace would be the more appealing job if these scenarios occur, which could easily sway Pochettino in the summer.

On top of this, every manager since Pochettino at Tottenham has struggled to work in the environment, with each appointment ending in failure.

Therefore, Spurs could now find themselves in a real battle for the manager’s signature, ready for the 2026-27 campaign.

Who else is linked to the Crystal Palace job?

Football Insider recently revealed that Sean Dyche to Palace could happen, with the former Nottingham Forest manager interested in the role.

This is reflected in the market, with the manager at 4/1 odds to take over.

Ahead of him are Robbie Keane and Thomas Frank at 13/8 and 10/3.

Keane has done an impressive job abroad, with his work at Hungarian side Ferencvaros a particular highlight.

While Frank’s time at Tottenham was not as successful, his work at Brentford still earns him a lot of credit.

Gareth Southgate follows next at 9/1, with the former England manager still on the hunt for his first job after leaving international football behind.

A potential outsider is seen as Marco Silva at 10/1. The Fulham manager is yet to resolve his contract situation, with his current deal set to expire in the summer.
