Tottenham fans make ‘big’ Archie Gray claim as detailed stats emerge from Crystal Palace defeat

Tottenham Hotspur fans were full of praise for Archie Gray despite their 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Thursday.

The midfielder was one of Spurs’ only standout players against Oliver Glasner’s side, as they fell to yet another Premier League defeat.

With Tottenham now just one point above the relegation zone, it is fair to say that supporters are not fans of the current squad.

However, Gray appears to be an exception, with supporters quick to highlight how much the midfielder cares, despite a Tottenham relegation edging closer to becoming a reality.

Tottenham fans insist Archie Gray is their future captain

The defeat to Crystal Palace highlighted how poor Spurs’ leadership team is.

With Cristian Romero already suspended, Micky van de Ven picked up another terrible red card which turned the result on its head on Thursday.

Upon going 3-1 down, the body language of many of Tottenham’s players was abysmal, with multiple players looking uninterested.

However, this wasn’t the case with Gray, with the young midfielder trying everything to get Spurs back in the game.

This was noticed by many of Tottenham’s fanbase, who were quick to praise the star on X, claiming that he is future captain material.

How good was Gray vs Crystal Palace?

Football Insider recently revealed that Tottenham could sell Gray if they are relegated to the Championship, and based on his recent performance, this would be a terrible scenario for the club.

According to Fotmob on 5 March, Gray was one of the only Tottenham players who put in a decent performance on Thursday.

On top of his assist, he completed 77 per cent of his passes, completed all of his dribbles, made four clearances and three recoveries.

This is despite Gray once again being played out of his natural position as a centre-midfielder.

One thing that is now clear, whatever division Tottenham are in next season, they have to try and keep hold of Gray.

The youngster clearly has bundles of potential and clearly cares for Spurs.

However, if he keeps these levels of performances up, the North London club may face a battle to keep hold of him, especially if they end up being relegated to the Championship.
