Tottenham Hotspur should stick by interim boss Igor Tudor unless they can bring in a manager that can rally the fanbase.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, amid rumours that Tudor could be sacked after just four games at Spurs.

Tudor was appointed manager until the end of the season following the sacking of Thomas Frank in February, but the former Juventus boss has lost all his matches in charge so far, with Spurs hovering a point above the Premier League relegation zone.

If results do not improve, Spurs could sack Tudor before the end of the season, with the club wanting Mauricio Pochettino to be their next permanent manager.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Spurs “might as well stick” with Tudor for the rest of the season.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the fans also have a massive part to play between now and the end of the season.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I am always one to advocate stability. I think it’s crucial. But Tudor has only had three or four games. I mean, it’s hard to say there’s any stability there at all.

“And maybe his personality hasn’t worked. We’ve got to see what the dressing room is feeling like right now. We know there have been injuries, different issues. It’s a difficult hand he’s been dealt.

“And so I think potentially they’ve made their choice, and I think they might as well stick with it, go through it, unless they can find a way to rally the fans in some other way, which I think could be crucial in those coming key games that are coming up. They can’t have empty stadiums again at half-time. 

“They’ve got to get behind the team and do everything I can. And I say, I can’t stress how important it was for Everton, the way the fans treated the team, that really got them across the line, in my view, for three seasons in a row almost. And so it’s something that they should look at and learn from.”  

Spurs remain keen on Andy Robertson swoop

Sources have told Football Insider that Spurs will reignite their interest in Andy Robertson in the summer transfer window.

Robertson was linked with a move to north London in January, and the 32-year-old’s contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season.

The Scotland international has started just five Premier League games for Liverpool this season, as he has slipped behind Milos Kerkez in the pecking order.
