Tottenham launch Lucas Chevalier move as Antonin Kinsky edges towards transfer exit

Tottenham Hotspur have made a move for PSG star Lucas Chevalier to save their goalkeeping situation next season.

The Lilywhites are targeting a new goalkeeper amid Guglielmo Vicario’s ongoing struggles, and also Antonin Kinsky’s disastrous return to the side on Tuesday night.

The youngster was handed a rare start by Igor Tudor for the first leg of Spurs’ Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid, only for him to be hauled off after conceding four goals in the opening 17 minutes.

That display appears to have sealed the Czech’s future in North London, with The Telegraph understanding that he is now set to demand a loan move away to rebuild his career in the summer.

Tottenham’s transfer plans have seen them add potential new goalkeepers to their radar in recent months, but they have now made a concrete move.

Tottenham steal march amid Lucas Chevalier transfer battle

Vicario has been facing an uncertain future at Tottenham for several months now, as it has begun to look increasingly likely that he will leave in the summer, regardless of the outcome of the relegation battle.

That has left the Lilywhites’ recruitment chiefs to turn their attention towards trying to find a replacement for the Italian, and they now appear to have found their man.

Tottenham have now launched an approach to sign PSG stopper Chevalier, according to French outlet Media Foot.

The Premier League giants are understood to be impressed by the profile of the 24-year-old, with his quality on the ball and his ability to launch counter-attacks cited as a key reason for their interest.

Chevalier only joined PSG from Lille last summer, but he has found himself playing second fiddle to Matvey Safonov since January, and could be looking for a new challenge this summer as a result.

His difficult situation in the French capital is expected to see him attract interest from plenty of clubs across Europe, but it seems that Spurs have made the first move.

A move to the Premier League is said to be of interest to Chevalier, who is now faced with a decision as to whether he wants to fight for his shirt next term, or try and move elsewhere.

What is the latest on Guglielmo Vicario’s future?

Football Insider recently revealed that Tottenham will sign a new goalkeeper this summer, with Vicario looking increasingly likely to return to Serie A ahead of next season.

The 29-year-old is being tracked by several top clubs back in his homeland, and his chances of leaving Spurs are set to grow even further if the team are relegated at the end of the campaign.

If the former Empoli man does depart, then the door will be left firmly ajar for a new number one to be added to the squad for next term, and that is where Chevalier could potentially come in.

A goalkeeper of his quality surely wouldn’t want to leave PSG unless he was guaranteed a starting spot, but it now looks likely that Spurs would be able to offer him ample playing time.
