‘You’ve got to check that out fully’ – Keith Wyness shares John Stones to Everton verdict
John Stones’ injury problems at Manchester City could be a concern for Everton ahead a potential summer move.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, as Stones could be a free agent in the summer.
Stones’ contract at Man City runs out at the end of the season, with the 31-year-old having started just four times in the Premier League this campaign.
Everton’s transfer business this summer in pursuit of European football means Stones could return to the club where he spent three seasons between 2013 and 2016.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the club signing Stones on a free transfer would be “good business.”
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Stones’ injury issues could be the only barrier to any deal being agreed.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “You know, there are some pros and cons about John.
“Obviously, an Everton history before, and we actually sold him to City for about 48 and a half million pounds. So to get him back on a free would be good business.
“But there has been some rumours of him being slightly injury-prone. So, I think we’ve got to check that out fully. So provided he can be injury free, then I think that could be interesting.”
Everton maintain firm Iliman Ndiaye stance
Sources have told Football Insider that Everton have no plans to allow Iliman Ndiaye to leave the club amid interest from Arsenal.
David Moyes does not want to weaken his squad, with Ndiaye having played a key role in Everton’s successful Premier League campaign so far.
The 26-year-old has scored five goals and contributed three assists in the league this season, and the Toffees would only accept a big offer to let him depart in the summer.
