Everton to reignite Julian Brandt pursuit after definitive talks over deal

Everton could now be about to move back in for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt in the summer transfer window.

The German’s contract with the Bundesliga giants has been due to expire at the end of the season, and it has now been confirmed that he will leave the Westfalenstadion as a free agent this summer.

Brandt has been linked with a Premier League move on numerous occasions in recent years, but that could finally now materialise as he prepares to leave Dortmund after seven full seasons in their colours.

Everton are putting their transfer plans in place ahead of the upcoming window, and Brandt is sure to feature in their reckoning.

Everton to launch second Julian Brandt approach

Dortmund’s managing director Lars Ricken has confirmed to Sky Sports Germany that the club have held discussions with Brandt over the possibility of him signing a new contract, and both parties have now decided to part ways.

That has left the door open for clubs elsewhere to make a move for the 30-year-old, and there is sure to be Premier League interest in him once again, especially considering there would be no transfer fee needed.

Everton launched an enquiry into Brandt’s availability back in October, according to Goodison News, and now that his time at Dortmund is definitely drawing to a close, it would be no surprise to see them move back in for him.

The Toffees should be preparing to make a fresh approach for the ex-Bayer Leverkusen man in order to reignite their pursuit, ahead of what will likely be a hugely competitive race for his signature in the summer.

Tottenham were also linked with a move for him back in the autumn, and the list of potential suitors for Brandt will only grow as the date of his departure draws closer.

Julian Brandt to add to impressive Toffees depth

Football Insider recently revealed that Everton will resist any approaches for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this summer, amid recent links over a move to Tottenham.

The former Leicester City has formed part of an impressive creative trio alongside Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Grealish this season, and is seen as a key part of the Toffees’ plans moving forward.

With Dewsbury-Hall going nowhere ahead of next season, any move for Brandt would be with the view of adding even greater depth in the attacking midfield position.

The German is versatile enough to play on the left wing or even as a striker, and has been a consistently impressive performer in the Bundesliga for several years.

Everton have progressed well both on and off the pitch this season, and they are now back in a position where they may be seen as a genuine option by players of Brandt’s quality.
