Kieran Trippier could yet receive a new contract at Newcastle United as links between Arsenal and Tino Livramento intensify, sources have told Football Insider.

The veteran right-back could leave St James’ Park on a free transfer at the end of the season, but the Magpies hierarchy are adamant that they cannot lose both of their right-backs in the same summer.

Eddie Howe would also love to keep hold of the former England international, with sources revealing that the former Bournemouth boss has been pleasantly surprised by the number of games Trippier has been able to play this term.

Newcastle are putting plans in place for if they lose Livramento ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, and a possible departure for the youngster could have a major knock-on effect on Trippier.

Arsenal plot bid for Tino Livramento

Livramento has struggled badly with injuries once again this season, and that has prompted Howe to call upon Trippier to start games more than often than he expected at the start of the campaign.

The 35-year-old has done a capable job for the Tynesiders once again, but Livramento remains a big miss for them at the moment.

The England hopeful has been continually linked with a move to Manchester City in recent months, but now their title rivals Arsenal are lining up a push to secure his signature.

Mikel Arteta’s side are eyeing up a potential bid for the 23-year-old ahead of next season, according to The Telegraph, with Livramento still reluctant to pen a new deal at St James’.

The full-back also shares the same agent as the Gunners boss, and that is seen as something that could potentially provide further ease to a potential deal.

Newcastle do not want to lose Livramento, but if his future continues to be up in the air, then it could force them into action over Trippier.

What is Kieran Trippier’s view towards Newcastle extension?

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider earlier this week that Trippier is prepared to walk away from Newcastle if he doesn’t receive assurances over his playing time for next season.

Brown revealed that the former Atletico Madrid man will be keen to speak to the club and seek out what their prospective plan for him would be next season, before making a definitive decision over his future.

He is understood to be fully focused on playing as much football as possible at this stage of his career, and doesn’t want to commit to a deal when he may be able to earn more minutes elsewhere.

The ongoing situation with Livramento looks set to play a massive hand in that respect, with the youngster likely to be the number one option if he remains in the North East.
