Rangers fans make Wilfried Nancy claim as ‘dreadful’ Danny Rohl is slammed
Rangers fans have claimed that Wilfried Nancy’s dire reign at Celtic is the only reason Danny Rohl got the club back into the Scottish Premiership title race.
The manager took over from Russell Martin in October and has pushed the Gers up to second in the table.
However, after fumbling a 2-0 lead against Celtic on Sunday, they are now three points behind Hearts and could fall to third on Wednesday.
The Gers’ recent Scottish Premiership form has been woeful as they have drawn four of their last six matches.
As a result, some Rangers fans have been calling for Rohl to be sacked, and now they have claimed that the only reason he has been looked at favourably in his opening months is due to Nancy’s horrendous spell at Celtic.

VISIT THE MANAGER HUBFans claim without Wilfred Nancy, Rangers would not be in title race
Nancy’s spell at Celtic was one of the worst in history.
The Frenchman only lasted eight matches, losing six of them, with four coming in the Scottish Premiership.
As a result, much of Martin O’Neill’s work was undone, with Rangers going level on points with Celtic after winning the Old Firm derby, in what proved to be Nancy’s last game.
Now, with the pressure heating up on Rohl, given the recent set of results, many fans have claimed that if Nancy had never been appointed, Rangers would already be out of the Scottish Premiership title race.
Yeah, that’s essentially what I’m trying to say. Us getting back into the title race is as much to do with Nancy as it is to do with Rohl.

If Celtic didn’t appoint Wilfred Nancy, there would have been no title race. Now I am not saying that Rohl should be sacked but his record of late is disgraceful & some of his team selections, tactics & substitutions are baffling! There is a good chance we finish 3rd/4th
— Granty (@gr4nt7) March 4, 2026
It’s not the first sign though.

It’s been the same since he came in.
I cannot see any progression with this Rangers team under rohl and I never have.
We have scraped result after result and because of hearts’ dip in form and Nancy we are somehow where we are.
We’ve won games we SHOULD have won and been below par against the top 6 teams.

Nancy and Hearts faltering brought us back into it.
Since then it’s been dreadful
Rohl will never win Rangers a title or a trophy. Nowhere near the mentality needed to be Rangers manager

You say he dragged us back like it’s an achievement. You would have expected nothing less.
— taewhittaewho (@christtocs) March 4, 2026
Equally he’s now got the strongest squad in the league and is struggling for results

Rangers’ shaky backline has cost them the Scottish Premiership title
Football Insider recently revealed that a new defender is a priority for Rangers in the summer, and it is 100 per cent needed.
Going into the final nine matches of the season, Rangers’ title hopes appear to be all but over.
Much of this is down to their inability to keep the ball out of the net, with the club conceding seven goals in their last four matches in the league.
As a result, this has resulted in six points being dropped, meaning they could have been top of the division at present if they could keep clean sheets.
If Rohl is at Ibrox at next campaign, he is something he has to fix, or Rangers will simply be not challenging for the title next season.
