‘Why is this triggering so many Celtic fans?’ – Rangers fans hit back over Danny Rohl controversy

Rangers fans have come to Danny Rohl’s defence after he stated that Celtic are not their toughest opponents in the Scottish Premiership this season.

The Gers manager has been quick to give his opinion on the Hoops in recent weeks, which has led to backlash for their Old Firm rivals’ fanbase.

Yet, his recent statement has caused further controversy, with Celtic well in the race for the title, as well as being the current Scottish Premiership champions.

However, many of the Ibrox faithful were quick to point out that Celtic have only beaten them once this season, ahead of the mouthwatering Rangers showdown.

Rangers fans insist Celtic are not their toughest opponents

With Celtic and Rangers usually dominating the Scottish Premiership, it seems weird that one does not view the other as their most difficult opponent.

However, when asked if Celtic were their toughest opponents on Premier Sports on 6 March, Rohl replied “no,” causing plenty of backlash.

Nevertheless, Rangers fans were quick to defend their manager, pointing to the fact that the Hoops are yet to beat them in 90 minutes this season, while Heart of Midlothian have overcome them twice.

Could Danny Rohl be sacked by Rangers this season?

Football Insider exclusively revealed this week that Rohl’s job is not at risk at present.

This is despite Rangers falling behind in the Scottish Premiership title and could potentially end the season trophy-less if they lose to Celtic in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

However, the Gers view Rohl as a long-term solution and has received high praise for how he has turned the club around since Russell Martin’s disastrous appointment.

Before Rohl’s appointment, the club were in no title race at all, and there was a real danger that they might not even qualify for Europe.

While Rangers fans may be less than impressed with his recent results, it does appear that the manager will be in the role for the foreseeable future unless there is a significant drop off in form.

Nevertheless, if Rohl guides the Gers to an Old Firm derby victory on Sunday, and sends the club into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup, their recent bad results will likely be quickly forgotten.
