COMMENT By Harvey Byrne
Football Insider rates the Arsenal players after their 2-1 win against Preston in the FA Cup on Saturday evening.
David Ospina 6 – The goalkeeper was not helped by a very poor defence in front of him, but he will still have been disappointed to concede.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles 4 – The youngster really struggled in the back line against the Championship side. Needs to improve drastically if he is to make the step up to the senior team.
Gabriel 5 – The Gunners back four looked lost against Simon Grayson’s side and one of the key reasons why was due to the Brazilian.
Shkodran Mustafi 4 – Having only returned from an injury in midweek, the defender still looks to be recovering. Was off the pace once again after impressing earlier in the campaign.
Nacho Monreal 6 – The left-back did a solid job, but more was required of him against a Championship outfit.
Granit Xhaka 5 – Another poor performance from the £30million summer signing as the Preston midfield were able to overrun Arsenal’s on Saturday.
Aaron Ramsey 6 – The Welshman was quiet in the first half before firing a shot past the North End keeper for the equaliser just after half time.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 3 – The attacker looked totally lost in the final third and failed to create anything noteworthy.
Alex Iwobi 5 – Struggled to get any influence on the match. Still learning at this level.
Lucas Perez 6 – Better was expected from the Spaniard against a Championship side, but he provided the vital assist for the winner.
Olivier Giroud 8 – The Frenchman was quiet, but popped up at the right moment to score the crucial winner for his side.
