
Exclusive: Liam Sweeting agrees new MK Dons deal after Carlisle interest
Liam Sweeting has now agreed a new deal at MK Dons after attracting interest from Carlisle United over their sporting director vacancy, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (17 September) that Sweeting, 35, is in the frame at Carlisle after his good work in Milton Keynes.
The transfer guru has now penned a new deal with MK Dons, ending the interest from the Cumbrians.
Carlisle will now turn their attention to other targets with several other candidates submitting applications for the sporting director role.
Sweeting has been sporting director at MK Dons since the summer of 2021 after joining from Crystal Palace three years earlier.
The 35-year-old, who is highly regarded within football recruitment circles, was the club’s chief analyst before his promotion.

Max Dean departed for Belgian giants Gent in the summer window after a successful spell in Buckinghamshire.
MK sit 20th in League Two after a poor start to the 2024-25 campaign.
They have started their second consecutive season in the fourth tier after relegation from League One in 2023.

Meanwhile, Carlisle are also in League Two after being relegated as the bottom side in the third tier last season.
The Cumbrians are 22nd in the fourth tier following Paul Simpson’s sacking last month.
